PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) — Far from putting the controversial issue of race behind him, Barack Obama has decided to address the issue head on in a speech Tuesday.
"I am going to be talking not just about Reverend Wright, but the larger issue of race in this campaign — which has ramped up over the last couple of weeks," Obama told reporters in Monaca, Pennsylvania.
Obama's chief strategist David Axelrod characterized the speech, to be delivered in Philadelphia, as "a discussion on race and politics."
"Given the events of the last few weeks, Obama felt it was time to address the issue of race and politics directly, and what it means in our country," Axelrod said.
News of the speech comes days after the Illinois senator formally denounced controversial sermons delivered by his former minister and longtime friend, Jeremiah Wright. The racially-charged remarks came under fire after being the subject of an ABC News report last week.
Axelrod described the Illinois senator as "a force for reconciliation" and said he wants the opportunity "to put this into context."
Speaking with reporters, Obama said the media is portraying Wright inaccurately.
"I think the caricature that is being painted of him is not accurate, and so part of what I will do tomorrow is to talk about how these issues are perceived from within the black church community for example which I think skews this very differently."
UPDATE: Axelrod later told CNN's Gloria Borger that the Illinois senator has "always contemplated giving a speech like this."
“He will address the broader questions of race and politics, these are complex issues that transcend Barack Obama, and are fault lines in our politics and society, and, ultimately, can be a barrier…They’re easily exploited, and hard to address," he said.
So which is it? Either Obama's giving the speech due to the "events of the last few weeks" or he's "always contemplated giving a speech like this". Just as with his America-hating, anti-Israel, disgusting, bile-filled pastor; B. Hussein Obama is attempting to have it both ways. It's because he's a uniter not a divider folks. Obama's empty statements which truly say nothing at all are getting downright silly at this point.
Let's recap. For twenty years B. Hussein Obama has been attending a psuedo-church lead by a pastor who blames the United States for the death of about 3,500 people on 9/11, accuses the United States of knowing about the Pearl Harbor attack before it happened implying a devious sacrifice of American soldiers, says, "God damn America!" and means it, call us the "U.S.-of-KKK", blames white people for all evil things in the world, and of course states this country assists Israel in "terrorist attacks" on Palestinians. I know there's much more but I think I'm going to vomit so I'll stop there.
Twenty years B. Hussein Obama has been soaking-up this hateful brainwashing. Now that everyone is being informed of he and his lovely wife's true feelings about their country, Obama tells us he had no idea before his campaign started that his mentally impaired pastor held such an extremely anti-American ideology even though Barack and dear Michelle have been attending for twenty years, married by Jeremiah Wright, and his children baptized by the racist nut. Then there's this from NewsMax today:
Clarification: The Obama campaign has told members of the press that Senator Obama was not in church on the day cited, July 22, because he had a speech he gave in Miami at 1:30 PM. Our writer, Jim Davis, says he attended several services at Senator Obama's church during the month of July, including July 22. The church holds services three times every Sunday at 7:30 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time. While both the early morning and evening service allowed Sen. Obama to attend the service and still give a speech in Miami, Mr. Davis stands by his story that during one of the services he attended during the month of July, Senator Obama was present and sat through the sermon given by Rev. Wright as described in the story. Mr. Davis said Secret Service were also present in the church during Senator Obama's attendance. Mr. Davis' story was first published on Newsmax on August 9, 2007. Shortly before publication, Mr. Davis contacted the press office of Sen. Obama several times for comment about the Senator's attendance and Rev. Wright's comments during his sermon. The Senator's office declined to comment.
Contrary to Senator Barack Obama’s claim that he never heard his pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. preach hatred of America, Obama was in the pews last July 22 when the minister blamed the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the world’s suffering, especially the oppression of blacks.
On top of it all B. Hussein Obama's campaign informs us that while he's giving the upcoming speech due to the discovery of Jeremiah Wright, he's always had plans of giving the speech. Do these idiots even read what they say? Do they listen to themselves ever? The man was caught sitting in the pews during at least one of Wrights hateful sermons just this past July for the love of God! Am I to believe after twenty years of regular and frequent attendance that July was the only time he heard Wright's insane preachings? Not only that, Obama said quite specifically that he had no idea Jeremiah Wright spoke in such a way; accurate and completely factual reporting from NewsMax be damned. I think Obama is getting confused with the voters. It's the voters who had no idea about Jeremiah Wright and Barack's deep association with the man, not Barack himself. Silly Democrat, Trix are for kids.
