"Shakespearean?" by Dean Barnett

Every time a talking head appears on Fox News or CNN to discuss Eliot Spitzer, the term "Shakespearean" seems to come up. If memory serves, even Rep. Peter King called Spitzer's downfall “Shakespearean”--and King ain't exactly chairman of the Eliot Spitzer Empire State Fan Club.

I’ve admitted in the past to not having been the most attentive student back in my salad days, but I really don't get the "Shakespearean" stuff. Perhaps I was cutting class the day we read the scene in Macbeth where Macbeth got nailed spending 80,000 whatevers on high-priced call girls, and then hid behind the betrayed Lady Macbeth as he finally issued a curt statement to the Scottish media.

"Shakespearean" suggests a certain nobility of character that eventually lost out to the tragic figure’s flaws. Pardon me for playing Mickey the Dunce, but where, pray tell, was Eliot Spitzer's nobility? As a prosecutor, he was a bully. As a husband and a father, he was a wretched failure who brought humiliation to his family while violating their trust in a serial manner.

And finally, when the gig was up and he could have earned a small measure of redemption by showing a little honor and dealing forthrightly with his shortcomings, what did he do? He refused to face the music. He didn't answer press inquiries. He uttered some rank rubbish suggesting he had a disease. And he hid behind the wife that he had treated so poorly.

Shakespearean? Nah. No nobility here, I’m afraid.

Read more of Dean's wit at The Weekly Standard Blog, which you can work your way to by hitting the link above.  I'm with Dean on this one.  There's nothing "Shakespearean" about Eliot Sptizerer.  Depraved, hateful, and pathetic is more like it.  To even suggest nobility where this story is concerned is a crime in itself.  There's no nobility, there's no tragic love story or acts of bravery; it's not even complicated nor are there any enticing twists of the plot.  There is no plot!  Spitzerer lusted after whores and ruined his dreadful career.  If there is a plot, there it is.  End of story.  Can we now move on to the next disgusting Democrat's closeted skeleton of which I'm sure there are many?

"Tired Gaza Two-Step" by Victor Davis Hanson

Gaza has plenty of natural advantages. It enjoys a picturesque coastline on the Mediterranean with sandy beaches and a rich classical history. There is a contiguous border with Egypt, the Arab world’s largest country and spiritual home of pan-Arabic solidarity.

The Palestinians are a favorite cause of the oil-rich Middle East, and would seem to be in store for at least a few billions that accrue from $100 a barrel oil. In short, an autonomous Gaza might have been a test case in which the Palestinians could have crafted their own Singapore, Hong Kong, or Dubai.

Instead, despite Palestinian rule of Gaza, Hamas has continued its civil war with the Palestinian Authority, and looters have ruined infrastructure that was left by the United Nations and the Israelis. Mobs crashed the border crossing with Egypt. Hamas-led terrorists have launched over 2,500 mortar rounds into Israel, as well as over 2,000 Qassam rockets.

We all now know the familiar Gaza two-step. The Israeli Defense Forces respond to Hamas rockets with targeted air strikes against terrorist leaders or small-rocket factories. Hamas makes certain both these targets are intermingled with civilians in the hopes of televised collateral damage.

Hamas counts on the usual sympathetic European and Middle Eastern media coverage and commentary. Terrorists deliberately trying to murder Israeli civilians are seen as the moral equivalents of Israeli soldiers trying to target combatants who use civilians as shields. To the extent that the IDF kills more of the terrorists than Hamas kills Israeli civilians, sympathy goes to the “refugees” of Gaza.Gaza erupted in celebration last week to the news that a Palestinian had murdered Jewish religious students in Jerusalem. And almost daily terrorists send rockets from Gaza into nearby Israeli cities, hoping to kill civilians and provoke Israeli counter-responses — and perhaps start another Middle East war.

This is not the way some imagined Gaza two and half years after the Israelis withdrew both civilians and soldiers from the territory in September 2005. At the time, the Palestinian Authority controlled Gaza, but in early 2007, Hamas took over in a violent civil war, claiming legitimacy after once winning a popular election.
This tragic charade continues because Hamas wants it to continue. Its purpose is to make life so unsure and frightening for nearby affluent Israelis that they will grant continual concessions, hopefully leading to such wide-scale demoralization that the Jewish state itself will collapse and disappear. In that regard, the last thing Hamas wants is calm and prosperity in Gaza, which would turn the population’s attention toward living rather than killing and dying.

Also, the Palestinian just love, love, love to murder Jews.  If Hamas and the Palestinians could not murder Jews they would simply start murdering each other even more just like the rest of Islam in the Middle-East.  There's no grand idea propped-up by set of complicated circumstances perpetuating the ongoing war in Israel.  There's Palestinian blood lust and that's it!  We don't need to search and search for answers to the "Palestine question."  They do what they do because the Qur'an tells them to.  The very foundations of their religion commands them through Allah to murder Jews and anyone else who will not submit to his violent and perverted rule.

Palestinians murder Jews because that's what Palestinians do.  The day Israel removes the Palestinians from their lands is the day that Palestinians will cease to murder Jews from within their own country.  The situation in Israel is akin to us giving the Nazis and the Japanese a few towns to occupy here inside the United States during WWII then attempting to figure out ways to live with them instead of rounding them up and deporting the ones we didn't kill first.  Insanity!

"Woreable Behavior" by Ann Coulter

According to the wiretaps, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was delighted to be getting the prostitute "Kristen" again. At least he knew her name. It took Monica Lewinsky's boyfriend six sexual encounters to remember her name (raising his lifetime average to 8.2).

You know that queasy feeling you get thinking about Bill Clinton back in the White House again? Now you remember why. Hillary Clinton couldn't feel worse about the Spitzer case if she were an actual New Yorker.

Proving that Karl Marx got everything wrong -- more bad news for Hillary -- history is indeed repeating itself, but, contra Marx, the first time as farce, the second time as tragedy. Clinton's scandal was hilarious; Spitzer's is just depressing.

Most people outside of New York can't grasp the enormity of Spitzer's political free fall.

Oh I think most of us are able to "grasp the enormity" Ann.  A fake life based on status instead of one's soul and actual accomplishments runied by the lust for more, and no doubt lust for $2,000 dollar an hour hookers as well.  The invincible Spitzerer.  I think not.  One thing every one of us watching this pathetic display can grasp is that people who are who they are because of their pomp and arrogance can fall just as hard, if not harder, than any of the rest of us.  In fact they often seem to want it in an obviously perverted sort of way.  After all, what's the perfect end to a perfect liberal's career if not a good ol' fashioned sex scandal?  This excerpt from Ann's lastest article is my favorite:

One shudders to imagine the sepulchral gloom pervading the Spitzer home this week. At least Hillary would liven the place up with some lamp-throwing.

Whatever Spitzer's flaws, he was a pristine product of wealth and attainment. And he threw away a star-studded life of accomplishment in a wanton, reckless pursuit of sex with prostitutes.

I don't feel sorry for Spitzerer or his silly wife.  If you believe she was at all shocked by this development then you probably aren't giving women in general enough credit.  She knew, and she stayed because in the end it wasn't her marriage that was important but her husband's place in society.  She was the wife of the most powerful man in New York and that's what mattered.  Who cares if he likes expensive hookers.  Who could blame him?  It's not as if she would have sex with him anymore.  This couple is a microcosm of the Clintons.  It's extremely difficult for me to believe they were together for the love and friendship that only a spouse can bring.  Give me a break, it's New York.

All this week on the radio we've listened to host after host wondering how Spitzerer's wife could stand beside him during this whole mess.  Here's a clue: she's not a normal woman; she married Eliot Spitzerer!  To compare this woman to your wife is an insult to your wife.  Have some respect for God's sake.  It's the self-respect stupid!

CAIR Admits to Supporting Hamas, No More Excuses

Since the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was founded in June of 1994, the group has worked hard to conceal its true feelings about Hamas. That is, until now. Video footage taken at a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, rally against CAIR reveals its unabashed support for Hamas. If people had questions about CAIR's sympathies before, this should end all debate on the matter.

In March of 1994, the future co-founder and Executive Director of CAIR, Nihad Awad, revealed himself as a supporter of Hamas. “After I researched the situation inside and outside Palestine, I am in support of the Hamas movement more than the PLO," he said. "I know that this movement as an Islamic movement has not been objectively reported in the United States...”

When the declaration was made, Awad was the spokesman for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), the American propaganda wing of Hamas. However, since CAIR was established just a few months later, the organization has been extremely hesitant about making any such pronouncements about Hamas. Except for a statement at a November 2001 interfaith gathering by ex-CAIR-New York President Al-Haaj Ghazi Khankan, which he now says was a misquote, CAIR has been virtually silent.

But as of March 1, 2008, 14 years following Awad’s infamous statement, CAIR’s wall of silence about Hamas has come crashing down, as CAIR-Florida representative Jawhar “Joe” Badran spoke out at a public forum -- except, unlike Awad and Khankan, this time it was caught on video.

Jawhar Sadallah Badran, a Palestinian resident of Deerfield Beach, Florida, has made outrageous statements before. In July of 2006, he told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, “Hamas and Hezbollah are committing acts of defense against the acts of the Israelis. The only weapons that we have are to strap bombs on our bodies and do whatever damage and destruction we can.”

At the time, although he had told the paper that he was not speaking on behalf of any group, Badran was representing the South Florida chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC-South Florida) as its Vice President. [CAIR co-founder and ex-IAP President Rafiq Jaber was also a leader of the ADC.]
Nevertheless, at a March 1, 2008 rally against CAIR’s usage of a government-owned facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, there was no ambiguity, as Badran made his support for Hamas known. Speaking into a microphone bearing CAIR’s name and logo and standing beside a smiling Altaf Ali, the executive director of CAIR-Florida, he clearly and emphatically stated on video: “Hamas is not a terrorist organization.”

Additionally, when asked if Hamas was a terror group, one of the girls running video for CAIR said “No,” and a number of witnesses claim that Ali did the same.

Badran made other pro-Hamas statements at the rally. For instance, he said, “Hamas is a defender of the Palestinian people. That’s what Hamas is.” In a similar vein, he declared that “Hamas is better than Fatah, because there’s no corruption. Hamas takes care of the people.” And when asked if he believed a suicide bombing was a terrorist act, he balked on the question and said, “I’m saying that the state of Israel has committed a terrorist act.”

Given his associations with extremist groups and given his overtly pro-Hamas stance, it is curious that Badran, too, sits on the diversity committee of the Broward County School Board. On the other hand, given the way that Broward has coddled CAIR over the years, it may very well make sense.

In March of 2003, the School Board produced a video starring CAIR’s Altaf Ali, which was shown in all of Broward’s public schools. In August of 2005, the Broward Commission handed over the Fort Lauderdale Main Library to CAIR for a six-part series on Islam. And last year, just as this year, the local government approved CAIR’s usage of the Broward County Convention Center to hold its annual banquet, which featured the same speaker, Siraj Wahhaj, an “unindicted co-conspirator” of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

It was because of Broward County’s embrace of CAIR that my group, Americans Against Hate, called for a rally outside of CAIR’s event. We wanted to speak out about CAIR’s ties to terrorism and to denounce local officials for not taking a strong stand against the organization. While CAIR was recently named by the U.S. government an (unindicted) co-conspirator for a trial that dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas, and while the FBI stated, during the trial, that CAIR was founded as a part of the American Palestine Committee, a group led by then-head of Hamas Mousa Abu Marzook, the organization continues to be embraced by local governments across our nation.

With this new revelation of CAIR’s explicit public support for Hamas, it may be hoped that those in power will understand the true nature of this group. Perhaps now, government officials from Broward County and other areas will not be so quick to grant CAIR access to its cities and will, instead, work to shut the group down. No longer do they have the excuse of ignorance.

Hit the link above to get to the video.  CAIR is what it is; a terrorist front-group funded by Islamo-fascists who want to kill Jews and anyone else who does not submit to Islam.  CAIR is very proud of this fact and could not attempt to keep it a secret any longer, not that they were doing that great of a job hiding their ideology and support of Hamas to begin with.

Brother Shoots Sister, Family Jumps for Joy, Must be Islam

An Israeli-Arab family, to be specific. Motive: His sister was divorced, and yet was “befriending men.”

Police investigators noted that the attempted murder was meticulously planned. The youth had informed his family members that he was going to murder his sister early Tuesday morning, and then set off to do just that. He headed to the entrance of the village in a vehicle which he had borrowed from his brother, and awaited his sister’s arrival.

The youth then shot his sister, who was startled to see him and proceeded to kick her repeatedly in order to ensure that she was no longer alive…

The young man than informed his family that he had shot his sister and was warmly greeted, hugged and congratulated by his brother and other family members.

She’s still alive; somehow, after being shot and kicked, she had the wherewithal to play dead until the paramedics arrived. Exit question: How do we blame oil for this one?

Surely this is an isolated incident and hardly indicative of Islam, right?  Right?  *crickets chirping*  How do we blame oil for this one?  Easy.  America's lust for oil has driven the Islamists mad and they must now murder their sisters in order to put us all in our place.  A sign of the culture.  Didn't you know; honor killings are perfectly acceptable when your sister divorces and starts dating again.  Oh the civility!

Rep. Steve King's Remarks on Obama Make McCain Sad

John McCain’s presidential campaign has condemned remarks by Rep. Steve King, who claimed that terrorists will be “dancing in the streets” if Democrat Barack Obama is elected president.

"The senator rejects the type of politics that degrades our civics, and this campaign will be about the future of our country," said Jill Hazelbaker, spokeswoman for the presumptive Republican nominee.

"McCain could not be clearer on how he views these types of comments, and obviously that view extends to Congressman King's statement."

King, a three-term Republican from Iowa, made the comments to a radio station on Friday as he announced his bid for another term in the House, the Washington Post reported.

"I don't want to disparage anyone because of their race, their ethnicity, their name — whatever their religion their father might have been," King said.

"I'll just say this: When you think about the optics of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected president of the United States — I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam?"

King then said: "I will tell you that if he is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they will declare victory in this war on terror."

King then told Fox News on Saturday that if “we elect Obama to the presidency and . . . if they don’t dance in the streets, I will come and apologize to you and everybody in America. But I’m saying, ‘I’m right.’”

Obama responded during a campaign stop in Mississippi on Monday: “I think that Mr. King has it backwards. The fact that the continuation of a presence in Iraq as Sen. McCain has suggested is exactly what, I think, will fan the flames of anti-American sentiment and make it more difficult for us to create a long-term and sustainable peace in the world.”

John McCain is going to spend more time defending his opponents than he will being a conservative and lose the race for the White House.  Of course Peter King is right; the terrorists want little more than to have a liberal socialist in the Oval Office.  The more we're willing to talk instead of attack the better off they are.  This is elementary stuff folks; hardly takes a Middle-East expert to understand the context of King's statements.  No matter, the terrorists will be dancing in the streets regardless of which of the three candidates becomes President.  Ou choice is between three liberals; al-Qaeda has already achieved a victory by us allowing the media to pick the GOP nominee.  Can't take it back now.  We're stuck with what we have and now all we can do is make the best of a depressing situation.  In my opinion, Peter King could have said the exact same thing about John McCain and it would be just as true.

Israel Gives Palestinian's Permission to Continue Destruction of Temple Mount

JERUSALEM – The Israeli government gave permission to the Muslim custodians of the Temple Mount – Judaism's holiest site – to carry out construction on the Mount last week using a tractor, according to Palestinian Authority sources.

The construction may have damaged antiquities and is said to have made it more difficult for archaeologists to find temple artifacts.

Pictures obtained by WND clearly show the Waqf, the Mount's Islamic custodians, last week using a heavy tractor to lay massive stone tiles over an area of the Mount some archaeologists believe a Second Temple wall was discovered recently.

Pictures of the purported wall surfaced after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert last summer gave the Waqf permission to use tractors to dig a 1,300-foot trench around the periphery of the Mount. The Waqf claimed the trench was necessary to replace electrical cables outside mosques on the site.

Allowing the use of bulldozers at any sensitive archaeological site is extremely unusual, particularly at the Temple Mount, which experts say contains sealed layers of artifacts as shallow as two to three feet below the surface.

The Mount never has been properly excavated. Heavy equipment could easily damage any existing artifacts, stress Israeli experts, who assert the area should be excavated slowly and carefully by hand.

Israel gives the Palestinian's everything else; they might as well go ahead and give them their holiest site as well.  Par for the course of suicide.  Israel is losing itself brick by precious brick.  It's beyond all reason how the Jews could turn-over the Temple Mount to the Palestinian murderers.  Something evil and insidious truly festers in the Israeli government today, and it's name is Ehud Olmert.  The Jews have lost their minds.

Gnome Terrorizes Argentinan Town!

A town in South America is living in fear after several sightings of a 'creepy gnome' that locals claim stalks the streets at night, The Sun reports.

The little person — who wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk — was caught on video last week by a terrified group of youngsters.

Teenager Jose Alvarez — who filmed the gnome — yesterday told national newspaper El Tribuno that they caught the creature while larking about in their hometown of General Guemes, in the province of Salta, Argentina.

He said: “We were chatting about our last fishing trip. It was one in the morning. I began to film a bit with my mobile phone while the others were chatting and joking. Suddenly we heard something — a weird noise as if someone was throwing stones."

"We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like figure begin to emerge we were really afraid."

Alvarez added that other locals had come forward to say they had spotted the gnome.

He said: “This is no joke. We are still afraid to go out — just like everyone else in the neighborhood now."

"One of my friends was so scared after seeing that thing that we had to take him to the hospital,” Alvarez said.

Yes I know; don't even say it.  I couldn't help myself okay?  You'll see the "gnome" at the end of the video linked above.  My reaction: it's the kids filming the video playing a prank.  If it's not a hoax, that thing's pretty damn short and I seriously don't see why the gang of kids didn't run over there and beat the crap out of it.  It looks two feet tall for crying out loud!  Additionally, they could then force it to tell them where it's creepy pot of gold is hidden.  Oh wait, that's leprachauns isn't it?  Hmm.  Most likley it's just a midget in a carnival costume delighting in the horror of itself wondering the streets making noises in the dark.

Jews Plot Revenge for Yeshiva Murders? I Hope So!

Jewish revenge in the works? A group of Jewish men have apparently been granted religious approval to carry out an act of retribution in retaliation for the attack on the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem last week, Channel 1 reported Tuesday.

According to the report, several 25-35-year old men met with two prominent rabbinical figures – the first a rabbi at Mercaz Harav yeshiva and the second a rabbi known in far Right circles – two days after the attack, to discus possible retribution.

After reaching the conclusion that the IDF is unlikely to retaliate for the attack, the rabbis apparently sanctioned an independent act of revenge, giving three of the men – all believed to be yeshiva graduates who served in the IDF and are licensed to carry arms – several books on the redemption of the Land of Israel.

Three of the men then met with a Bnei Brak rabbi, the head of a Sephardic yeshiva, and introduced him to the notion of retribution in the form of harming an Arab figure associated with Temple Mount.

The rabbi, said Channel 1, gave them his blessing.

However, the Mercaz Harav yeshiva vehemently denied reports that any student or rabbi associated with the seminary planned to carry out an attack on Arabs.

"This report is baseless, and as proof of that, no arrests have been made," the yeshiva said in its respons, adding a libel suit against Channel 1 is being considered.

Moreover, Rabbi Yaakov Shapira, head of Mercaz Harav yeshiva, called a special meeting of the students after Education Minister Yuli Tamir was attacked on her visit to the Jewish seminary, in which he urged them not to seek vengeance.

Sources close to the Yesha Rabbis' Committee told Ynet that "it looks like the Shin Bet is behind this report; it sounds to stereotypical... although some of the public may think retribution is in order in this case."

Other right wing elements said that while the atmosphere may be grave it was highly unlikely that the rabbis would sanction a vendetta.

Defense establishment monitors developments
Meanwhile, the defense establishment has been following similar reports suggesting the possibility of Jewish radicals carrying out an act of revenge.

Well of course they could never admit it publicly regardless of whether it's actually true.  Personally, I hope the Jews are planning massive retaliation and revenge in secret throughout Israel for what's been inflicted on them by the Palestinian animals.  If the IDF will not be allowed to defend Israel, the people should.  Someone has to stand-up for Israel, and since the United States can't seem to do it's duty, the public might as well go ahead and do what's right.  "Jewish radicals"?  In the context of the war in Israe, there's no such thing.

Obama Calls Livni, Back's Israel's Right for Self-Defense

WASHINGTON – Obama expresses support for Israel: Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who is currently visiting the United States, received an unexpected phone call from Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama Tuesday.

During the conversation, Obama expressed his condolences to the Israeli people and to the bereaved families in the wake of the terror attack in the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva in Jerusalem last week that left eight people dead.

The Illinois senator also stressed Israel's right to defend itself and made it clear that both the US and Israel were interested in ensuring that Iran will not be acquiring nuclear weapons.

The foreign minister reportedly told Obama that there was a direct link between terrorism and Iran in the Middle East, and stressed the need for a firm international stance vis-à-vis Teheran.

'Israel adopts dual strategy'
According to a Livni associate, Obama also expressed his appreciation over Israel's insistence to continue its negotiations with the Palestinians. The foreign minister reportedly stressed that Hamas was deliberately attempting to hurt Israeli civilians while taking cover behind Palestinian civilians. For that reason, Livni said Israeli civilian casualties should not be compared to Palestinian casualties.

The foreign minister also told Obama that the situation in Gaza was worsening as a result of arms smuggling into the Strip. She noted that many Israelis were currently under Hamas' rocket threat.

Livni reportedly said that Israel was adopting a dual strategy by attempting to reach understandings with moderate Palestinians while acting firmly against terrorism.

B. Hussein Obama's pretty statements to Israel's Foreign Minister remind me of Mahmud Abbas preaching to the Jews about peace.  Obama is trying to get back some of the Jewish vote here in the States he's lost due to the uncovering of his early ties to a terrorist organization.  I see through it; but do you?  Does everyone else?  I guess we'll see on election day in November.  B. Hussein Obama, Ehud Olmert, Mahmud Abbas; they are all the same person inside.  Their own political positions and ideologies are much more important than doing what's right.  I wonder how long it's been since any of those men have done something right just for the sake of it.

MK Nissan Slomiansky: Hamas Cease-Fire "an Unprecedented Disgrace"

(IsraelNN.com) The Arabic-language Al-Hayat newspaper in the Palestinian Authority reports that Israel has agreed to stop aerial attacks against Gaza terrorists, in exchange for an end to both rocket attacks on Israel and arms-smuggling to Gaza.

MK Nissan Slomiansky (National Religious Party) says that Hamas will take advantage of this latest ceasefire, even if it is unofficial, to continue building up its armaments. He says that the very fact that Hamas is interested in a ceasefire with Israel "shows that it is weak, and that now is the time to smash it and liquidate it."

The agreement, which is to remain secret until at least the end of the month, was brokered by Egyptian officials.

Rivhi Rantisi, a Hamas official in Gaza, confirmed the report on Israel's Army Radio. "There are understandings," Rantisi said, but then added still more demands: "Israel must also end the sanctions on Gaza... There must also be an end to all Israeli military activity in [Judea and Samaria]."

Background
Following seven years of Kassam rocket attacks on Israel in the Sderot and western Negev, and after a particularly violent week in which dozens of Kassams and Katyushas were fired daily at Sderot and Ashkelon at the end of last month, Israel took possibly its strongest action in years when it sent sizeable forces into Gaza in an attempt to neutralize the terror infrastructures. The forces withdrew several days later, but the Israel Air Force continued to attack specific targets from the air - until the current ceasefire went into effect over the past few days.

Olmert Zig-Zags
Both the Prime Minister's and Defense Minister's office have denied any ceasefire with Hamas. However, Army Radio reported that Prime Minister Olmert's public statements of late have been "confusing" - and provided examples. Last Wednesday, just hours after the Cabinet voted to continue military pressure on Hamas, including targeted attacks on its leaders, Olmert said: "One thing must be clear: If there are no Kassams on Israel, we won't attack Hamas. We don't wake up in the morning and try to figure out how to attack Gaza. Our goal is to prevent rockets on Israel; if they don't shoot, we don't shoot."

The contrast with the Cabinet decision aroused some objections among the government ministers. Foreign Minister Livni, in particular, expressed wonderment in semi-public forums why Hamas would be allowed to choose when to shoot and when not. Olmert apparently understood the hint, and, on Monday of this week, he added another condition: "If the rockets on Sderot and Ashkelon stop, and if there is no violence or arms smuggling, then Israel will have no reason to fire back."

A Kassam rocket was fired from Gaza into Ashkelon Tuesday afternoon, causing no damage. Israel did not respond.

Slomiansky: Gov't Not Asking What's Good for Israel
Speaking with Arutz-7's Hebrew newsmagazine, MK Slomiansky said that the ceasefire understandings are "an unprecedented disgrace... In the past, our security establishment leaders totally negated these types of agreements - because they understood that Hamas and the terrorist leaders want ceasefires only when they are weak and need time to regroup."

"The government finally decided to attack the terrorists," Slomiansky said, "so why are we now allowing them to recover and recharge their batteries? Why don't we just destroy them?... By not liquidating the terrorists, we are becoming a laughing stock all over the world."

Slomiansky had harsh words for Prime Minister Olmert: "His only motivation is political survival. He has to show Labor that he's negotiating, but for Shas and most of the country he has to show that he's not negotiating. So he winks and says that there aren't talks, but really there are... Everything stems from his desire to survive politically, and not from what is good for the country. This is the biggest catastrophe: when the leadership acts for personal motivations."

Slomiansky could not be more correct in his interpretation of the situation.  Olmert is a political hack an his survival in office is the only thing in the world he truly cares about; certainly not Israel.  This is indeed a catastrophe and the Israeli government has become a sad laughing-stock just as Slomiansky suggests.  I will continue to say it: this is suicide on the part of Israel.  Next they'll be giving more land to the Palestinians in exchange for more empty promises which immediately turn to lies.  My country, the United States, enables this through Condoleeza Rice's State Department and it's distressing.

Abbas Accuses Barak of Wanting to Defend His Country

Amman - Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas accused a "key member" of the Israeli government of opposing peace negotiations with the Palestinians, in remarks published on Tuesday.

"This key member refuses to negotiate with the Palestinian side and creates obstacles that hinder peace talks and efforts to find a solution," Abbas said at a meeting with Jordanian newspaper editors in Amman.

According to the al-Arab al-Yawm independent daily, Abbas said when pressed that "this member is Defence Minister Ehud Barak."

"Palestinian-Israeli peace talks provide an opportunity that should be seized. A solution should be found by the end of this year, otherwise, the situation could be catastrophic," he said without elaborating.
The Israelis and Palestinians, who revived their talks at a US-hosted international conference in November, have said they expect to resume the negotiations next week.

Abbas suspended the negotiations on March 2 in protest at deadly Israeli army raids on the Gaza Strip over the previous week aimed at stopping rocket fire from the Hamas-run territory.

"Deadly" Israeli army raids?  Deadly defense operations against terrorists is more like it!  As for Abbas; a man swimming in innocent blood such as he should not be attacking Ehud Barak for attempting do to what little he's permitted to defend his country.  I'm sure Barak is quaking with guilt at Abbas' accusations.  Mahmud Abbas wouldn't know the truth if it was exploding over his own head.  It is Abbas' brand of rhetoric, coupled with Palestinian monsters murdering Jews on a daily basis, that hinders "peace".  The Palestinian way of peace is for Jews to stand silently while they're murdered by Islamo-fascists pretending to be humans.  Abbas is a fat idiot and an evil man devoid of values and morals of any kind, and it's offensive for him to be involved in any civilized peace talks whatsoever.

From Yonni the Blogger:

Olmert in Ashkelon: Get used to rocket fire

PM Olmert visits Ashkelon, says Israel has 'no way of preventing Grad rocket attacks from recurring'; later, school child shares idea with PM: 'Every time they fire Qassam, it should activate button that fires back'

"Don't conduct yourselves as though the Grad rocket attacks were not a one-time thing; this has been Israel's reality for the past 60 years, and this demands restraint as well as strength," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told board members of the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon Tuesday.

"There is no point in comparing your situation to that of Sderot or other towns that have sustained the rocket fire for years," the PM told hospital officials after hearing their complaints over the fact that the hospital has yet to be fortified.

"The Grad is heavier than the Qassam, and we have no way of preventing these things (rocket attacks) from recurring."

Israel is cursed by the piece of garbage called the Knesset, that keeps Olmert in office.

Get used to rockets falling on your head?

Wake Up Israel, the members of Knesset have violated the contract that citizens make between themselves and their government. It is time to engage in extreme measures to force this man from office.

Take to the streets, don't work, force Israel all of Israel to a stand still to force Olmert out before this weak little man kills anymore of our sons in mishandled operations of the IDF or we loose more children to terrorism.

If you love your children force the issue take the power of the people into your hands and rise up.

Yonni has a way of making people who support Israel want to take-up arms and kill Palestinian terrorists until they are dead.  Excellent post Yonni, keep 'em coming.  He's right of course.  The Jews of Israel have little choice now but to take to the streets and remove Ehud Olmert from office permanently.  Their Prime Minister has more Jewish blood on his very hands than he's worth.  The Hell in Israel is not an academic question to be discussed by retards in suits and ties who care more about how big their house is than their own country!

If Israel falls it will ultimately be the fault of the Jews.  God promised them prosperity when they keep his Commandments and promised them destruction and bondage when refuted.  The Jews are fulfilling that prophecy to this day by their own apathy and liberalism.  Too much time in Americanized universities and not nearly enough time in the IDF; including their politicians.  Without those who fight the rest of the populace wouldn't have the opportunity to sit around dreaming-up fantasy scenarios of peace and good will towards evil.  The Jews are going to think their way right out of a nation and again be scattered throughout the world into the arms of only those countries who will have them.  Depressing.

Informal Cease-Fire Reached Between Israel and Hamas via Egypt

Despite Israeli and Hamas denials of an accord, DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources report that the Egyptian intelligence minister Gen. Omar Suleiman has brokered an informal ceasefire and obtained Israel’s non-rejection of a reopened Rafah crossing from Gaza to Sinai. The calm on the Gaza-Israel border went into its third day Monday, March 11.

Prime minister Ehud Olmert and Ehud Barak, when they denied secret talks with Hamas, were technically correct. The two sides did not meet; the Egyptians shuttled between them. And since no documents were formally signed, the deal can be repudiated at any time. Israelis living within missile range of Gaza fear from long experience that the Palestinian rule of terror is not over and Hamas is simply exploiting a welcome respite to recuperate, re-arm and regroup.

Our sources report that Cairo agreed to open the Rafah crossing for a few hours a day to meet “requirements in Gaza,” a welcome concession to Hamas and well worth its two promises:

1. As long as the new arrangement is in force, Hamas will not knock over the new border wall Egypt is building along the 13-km Philadelphi route. This wall will be 3 meters thick with a guard tower every 90 meters.

2. Hamas will refrain from digging new arms smuggling tunnels but did not agree to stop using existing underground routes. Amos Gilead, political adviser at Israel’s defense minister, who was in Cairo Sunday, March 10, accordingly countered with this caveat: Israel reserves the freedom to resume military attacks if Hamas goes back to firing missiles or uses the tunnels to smuggle in new weapons supplies.

The trouble with this deal, say senior Israeli officers, is that it is too full of holes to last. On the one hand, as long as Hamas and Jihad Islami are not shooting missiles and rockets at Israel, the IDF has no cause to hit back. The list of targets which the Israeli cabinet drew up last week for the next round of attacks – Hamas leaders and terrorist infrastructure – has therefore been put on ice. But Israel has no way of telling if and when Hamas uses the smuggling tunnels. Incoming intelligence on these smuggling activities is received after – sometimes long after - the event. Egypt and Hamas may dispute Israel’s information and the wrangling can go on for weeks.

Furthermore, say the Israeli officers, by accepting the reopening of the Gaza-Egyptian border crossing, Israel has agreed to the unrestricted passage of members of Palestinian armed groups to and from Tehran, Damascus and Beirut.

Hamas has promised Egypt not to smuggle weapons and explosives through Rafah, but officers familiar with Hamas’ practices are sure they have no intention of standing by this promise.

All in all, Israeli military sources conclude that the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire arrangement has forced Israel to tacitly accept the end of the international siege of Hamas-ruled Gaza, a significant victory for the Islamist Palestinian group.

Its erosion began last week when Israel allowed hundreds of trucks to transit two crossings with "essential products" for the population, at the insistence of visiting US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. The convoys were not stopped, even when they came under Palestinian fire and an attempt was made to smuggle from the West Bank substances used for making missile explosives concealed in cans of edible oil.

The US and Israel long ago gave up on the security measures, which Rice brokered after Israel’s 2005 pull-back, for European monitors to man the Rafah terminal and surveillance cameras linked to Israel installed there. Following these precedents, Egyptian and Hamas pressure will build up to withdraw security measures from all Israeli crossings into Gaza as well.

This is not a cease-fire, it's more Jewish suicide!  What in God's name has possessed Israeli leadership that they would accept such an insane deal with terrorists who obviously have no intention of holding to it?  This does nothing more than allow Hamas to re-arm itself and promptly return to raining missiles down upon the Jews.  Condi Rice is a horrible woman and an enemy of the Jews!  There's simply no other explanation.  She could care less about the lives of innocent Israeli civilians.  All she does care about is pretty pieces of paper, and the same goes for Ehud Olmert.  Israel is ruled by madness.

China, Russia, North Korea, and Pakistan on List of Human Rights Abusers

WASHINGTON (AP) -- China, host of the summer Olympics, is an authoritarian nation that denies its people basic human rights and freedoms, harasses journalists and foreign aid workers and tortures prisoners, the United States charged Tuesday.
China is still among the world's human rights abusers despite rapid economic growth that has transformed large parts of Chinese society, the State Department said in an annual accounting of human rights practices around the world.

Torture in China includes the use of electric shocks, beatings, shackles, and other forms of abuse, according to the report. It includes an account of a prisoner strapped to a "tiger bench," as device that forces the legs to bend sometimes until they break.

The report details the lengths some Chinese officials have taken to enforce China's well-known "one child" policy, and says forced relocations went up last year. The report notes claims that people were forced from their homes to make way for Olympic projects in Beijing.

"The year 2007 saw increased efforts to control and censor the Internet, and the government tightened restrictions on freedom of speech and the domestic press," the report says of China. "The government continued to monitor, harass, detain, arrest, and imprison journalists, Internet writers, and bloggers."

The country-by-country report is compiled separately from U.S. diplomatic efforts, and presented to Congress. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was releasing it at the State Department.

The report also notes further backsliding in President Vladimir Putin's Russia last year, and ticks off a string of undemocratic moves taken by close U.S. ally President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan.

"In Russia, centralization of power in the executive branch, a compliant State Duma, corruption and selectivity in enforcement of the law," onerous restrictions on aid groups and the media "continued to erode the government's accountability to its citizens," the report said.

It said that Pakistan's human rights situation worsened during the year, "stemming primarily from President Musharraf's decision to impose a 42-day state of emergency, suspend the constitution, and dismiss the Supreme and High Provincial Courts."

Political adversaries Cuba, Iran, Zimbabwe and Syria were all listed as human rights abusers. Sudan's record was called "horrific."

North Korea is called an absolute dictatorship with repressive policies that control the most basic aspects of daily life. The report does not mention the intensive U.S. campaign for nuclear disarmament in North Korea, which included the first regular visits in decades by U.S. diplomats to the secretive regime in 2007.

"Pregnant female prisoners underwent forced abortions in some cases, and in other cases babies were killed upon birth in prisons," the report noted in its section covering detention and imprisonment in the North.

The world outside America is a terrible place.  How anyone who has the opportunity to compare is unable to see that is beyond me.  The very fact we trade heavily with some of these countries thereby further enabling them to abuse humanity on such a grand scale is disgusting.  These countries should be punished, not rewarded.  I wonder were Palestine is on Secretary Rice's list.
